The Tillamook Cheese is a touristy mecca for all things dairy and yummy.

Found in the town of Tillamook on the Oregon Coast, you can of course get cheese there. Lots of it, and in many varieties. They even have all-you-can-eat samples. And the grilled cheese sandwiches in the cafeteria are extra decadent. In addition, there is ice cream. Again, more varieties than you can find most anywhere else. No problem finding both classics and something a bit unusual. Throw in yogurt, sour cream, and butter products too, and you can get most of the biggies that come from processed cow milk.

The factory is a real factory. Tours are available plus there is an observation platform that looks down onto the cheese production lines. There is also local, company, and cheese history. And throw in gift shops to round out the package.

The Tillamook Cheese Factory has been a big draw for the little coastal town of Tillamook for decades, and it continues that tradition of drawing travelers from along the coast. There are now competing smaller venues nearby, and these have spawned farm animal petting zoos, locally produced food stores, and other aspects of area farm culture. It’s good stuff if you have a hankering for something tasty and dairy.
