If you are exploring around the caves and hiking trails of south Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument park, then consider Beaver Bay Campground as a sleeping and launching place. It is a nicely laid out and appointed campground owned by a timber company yet open to the public like a park campground. Though the sites are open to other sites without much break between them, it does have running water, flush toilet restrooms, and easy in-out car camping. The grounds are kept up by a campground host, who is also available to help when needed.

More importantly, the campground is right on the shores of pretty Yale Lake. The slightly cool temperature swimming is fun. Fishing and relaxing are other options…
