For Karen's birthday, we explored Whidbey
Island for 3 days, visiting some of the local sites. Pies at Greenbank Farm and
art shops in Coupeville and Langley attracted us, plus a sunset beach walk at
Double Bluff Park and a visit to the Captain Whidbey Inn. We stayed at a bed &
breakfast style log cabin in Greenbank, enjoying the 25 wooded acres, pond, and
hot tub. And the Langley Mystery Weekend was a fun local tradition in its 22nd
year; a fictitious murder happened and participants (such as us) got to walk around
the town searching for clues, talking with in-character actors that walked the
streets, and trying to piece together the puzzle.

Our log cabin was a terrific getaway location, the hosts were very friendly, and
the amenities were surprising with many nice touches.

At
the end of the Langley Mystery Weekend on Sunday afternoon, all of the character
actors get together on the middle school stage and everyone gets to find out whodunit.
The real local sheriff then hauled away the perpetrator.
