We did a 4 day extended weekend exploring
many enjoyable nooks and crannies on Whidbey Island. Here are a few of them:

We
hiked along the shoreline trails of Deception Pass State Park, eating ripe salalberries
along the way, and then crossed over the Deception Pass Bridge to Fidalgo Island.
There is also a short, steep side hike down off the side of the bridge onto the
rock formation which sits in the middle of the pass and connects the two bridge
sections together. From here, we got to watch the strong currents, boats cruising
by, and a seal lounging among the bull kelp.

The
family of some friends of ours own a beach house on Bells Beach, located on the
east side of the island in Langley. There were three great bands there, all with
different types and styles of music. The crab caught out front was huge and delicious,
too!

We
stayed two nights at the Island Tyme Bed and Breakfast in Langley. While sitting
outside in Adirondack chairs, the resident goats really wanted our Lara Bars.
We offered them vegetables, and they wouldn't eat them! Picky, though friendly,
goats...
