The annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival draws many thousands of tourists to its colorful fields every year. Located an hour north of Seattle in the rich farming soils of the Skagit Valley near Mt Vernon, it offers a kaleidoscope of shapes and textures across the many farms that participate. Visiting mid-week can be advisable, since weekend crowds can get unwieldy. It is worth a fun stop, especially if you like flowers and color.
