Spaceship Bus Shelter of Camano Island Washington

This spaceship landed ready to protect kids from the elements while waiting for a school bus. We stopped at the nearby cookies-and-juice stand, run by 6 young entrepreneur-in-training girls taking advantage of Seattlites driving around the island's annual tour of local artists' homes and studios. The spaceship was designed and built by one girl's father, who is a welder by trade. The glass portholes and interior seats are nice additions, plus the large doorway is opened by the touch of a button and the whir of a hydraulic pump!

8 years later I revisited this roadside attraction (in 2009). The spaceship bus shelter was reoriented on a concrete pad, and the driveway entrance was guarded by a wonderful solar system gate framed by large metal dragon sculptures. Bravo!
