We left our car in Anacortes, packed up our bicycles, and took the ferry to San Juan Island for a weekend away at the Highland Inn Bed and Breakfast. We explored the ferry dock town of Friday Harbor and took a boat tour out to see a local pod of orca whales. Biking along the pastoral rolling hills of San Juan Island is fun and relaxing, passing farms, homes, forests, and pretty vistas. Before arriving at the B&B, we hiked through the forest, shoreline, and open prairies at American Camp on the south end of the island. We then pumped up the hill to the B&B and did some serious relaxing in the hot tub overlooking the west side of San Juan Island out across the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
