Panorama from Crater Rim of Mt. St. Helens

Here is the view as you crest the rim of Mt. St. Helens after climbing the southern route up the mountain. The crater's growing dome is located in the crater below, with Spirit Lake further above it and then directly above that is Mt. Rainier. Mt. Adams also looms to the east (right of the crater), and Mt. Hood is way off in the distance to the south across the open crumbly expanse that forms the last push of the hike up the mountain. Beautiful in both its surroundings and its eruptive desolation.
